A LIFETIME LEARNER

Cannelle Callard was born and raised in Provence, in the south east of France. At 19, she moved to Paris to pursue a career in modeling while studying at the Universite de Paris. She became a professional model with benefits of traveling around the world for 12 years. Cannelle was thereafter offered to stay in the fashion business but this time as an exclusive agent for some famous brands.
Her travels continued and that's when she met her husband and settled to the French Island of Guadeloupe. She always wanted to experience the other side of the camera. In 2008, when her husband decided to move back to Gainesville, Cannelle used that opportunity to start photography classes and soon realized that she felt as confortable behind the camera as she did in front. She, of course, concentrated on portrait/fashion photography.

THE HORSES OF MILL CREEK FARM

Because of her love for horses, Cannelle Callard dedicates time as volunteer at the farm, a horse retirement home in Alachua, Fl. This non-profit organization provides lifetime care for elderly horses that have been abused, abandoned, or destined for slaughter. 365 days a year, about 145 horses who live here receive individual attention, care and love.
At the farm, horses never race, they don’t drew carriages, they are not saddled, they occasionally run, or roll in the dust. The only time they “parade”, it’s when visitors bring them carrots. Whatever their situation, they all deserve to live their last years in peace and tranquility.
At Mill Creek Farm, the horses depend solely on the contributions of individuals and organizations. With “The Horses of Mill Creek Farm” project, Cannelle will give 100% of the profit to benefit the farm. Dedicated to the cause, Cannelle’s hope is to inspire others, not only to appreciate the beauty of these creatures, but to take an interest in helping to provide them a lifetime care and wellness.

“Horses inspire my admiration. All animals are wonderful but horses are truly mythic. Horses have voluptuous and elegant curves, showing powerful muscles and strength. They can be sensual and graceful with their shiny floating mane and their lashes outlining the eyes. I think horses are fashionable.
The photographs are not just a representative horse, this is a true portrait of an individual horse at a particular moment. We should not take the beauty of the horse for granted. Besides this powerful physic, the horse is curiously fragile and requires so much care. This is why horses occupy a special place.
I’m very fortunate to spend time with horses and as a photographer I can record special images and take them with me, be part of me. I’m also very fortunate to meet the extraordinary people at the farm, owners, staff, volonteers, who are dedicated to horses for more than 30 years. I wish and hope to bring you closer to this place, where care, affection and commitment to horses is priority.” Cannelle
